Our optometrists are registered with the General Optical Council and members of the College of Optometrists. We encourage development in specific areas of expertise. Regular professional education and training is carried out by all our optometrists.
Our qualified dispensing opticians are registered with the General Optical Council and members of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians. They supervise the supply of spectacles, their wide knowledge base ensures you are offered the best possible options in spectacle technology by opticians who have the experience to advise accordingly. Stephen qualified in Optometry in 1984. He has special interest in medical contact lens fitting, keratoconus, glaucoma and optometric primary eye care. He is qualified as an independent prescriber, allowing prescription medicines to be prescribed for eye related disorders. He is currently module lead and tutor for an MSc in Primary Care Ophthalmology, University of Edinburgh, Optometric Advisor for the Eye Health Network, NHS Grampian and a director of North East Sensory Services, a charity organisation dealing with sensory impairment.
Malcolm qualified in Optometry in 1985. He has a special interest in the treatment of eye disease and is qualified as an independent prescriber, allowing prescription medicines to be prescribed for eye related disorders. He is a member of the National Independent Prescribing panel for the College of Optometrist and a member of the NHS Grampian non medical prescribing committee. He recently stepped down from his role as a council member of the College of Optometrists and Optometry Scotland Council.
Scott McKay and Wendy Bremner complete our Optometric Team. Scott graduated from Aston University in 1997, having followed both his father and grandmother into a career in optometry. He joined McPherson Optometry in 2013. Wendy qualified in 1996 from Glasgow Caledonian University. She has worked in a variety of practice environments before joining independent practice with McPherson Optometry in 2014. Wendy has recently finished her term as Aberdeen City Optometry Lead for NHS Grampian.
Lynn, our Practice Manager has over 20 years experience in optics. Her expertise is invaluable to enable on-going practice growth and development whilst maintaining our professional reputation for clinical excellence. Kevin has been working as a qualified Dispensing Optician for the last 11 years and takes pride in providing a personal experience for every patient on their visit to the practice. Kim has worked in the optical industry for 11 years and as a qualified Dispensing Optician she enjoys helping patients select frames and giving advice on lenses. Joanna enjoys dispensing spectacles and pre-screening patients before their eye examinations.
Our Optical Advisors are here to help guide you through your visit with us, from their warm welcome to the pre-screening process, supporting both the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians throughout the practice. They are also responsible for carrying out practice administration tasks in the office including updating our social media pages.
