Kevin Shaw on Japan...

I was in the fortunate position to be selected for a  business trip to Japan courtesy of Nikon.  My journey began on 3rd October 2015 and after a packed itinerary which included a trip to the Nikon Concept Store, a Rickshaw tour of Tokyo, a River Boat Dinner Cruise and a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony I returned home 6 days later.  It was an incredible experience, a cultural extravaganza.  I feel very privileged that I was able to visit this amazing country.  I'll let you know more about each of these amazing activities shortly.  Have a look at our Facebook page to see some of my amazing photos.

Spotlight On....Dry Eyes

Do your eyes feel gritty, burning or watering?  Dry eyes are an increasingly common problem often made worse by constant use involving computers, tablets and smartphones.  We can perform a detailed assessment of the tear film, eyelid gland function and corneal surface, allowing us to identify the cause of the symptoms.   There are differing causes of dry eye, and we can recommend relevant treatment options.  You can discuss whether a full assessment is indicated with your optometrist or book a dry eye assessment direct with reception.

Eye care is a high tech business. Gone are the days of cardboard letter charts and hand held lights to examine the eye. The modern optometric practice is equipped with high tech microscopes, computerised letter charts and even the ability to take a sectional scan of the eye and examine the layers of the retina.

Our optometrists are fully trained in both using and interpreting the technology to help make reasoned decisions with you about your vision and the health of your eyes.
